I took my 4 year old son to Family Urgent Care Clinic yesterday evening for an elbow injury that occurred while we were playing (what was explained to me as a nursemaid’s elbow), and the nurse practitioner that saw him was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and capable. He was able to diagnose the issue within the first minute of seeing him and then after a brief moment of explanation was able to manipulate the affected bone/joint back to its correct position. He took his time explaining everything to me throughout the process and was very patient and gentle with my son. He also called me today to follow up and make sure my son was feeling ok. Great service and much appreciated!!
As an aside, we initially went to Sugar Land Pediatric Urgent Care because it was about 15 minutes closer to where we live, but there were 10 patients waiting before us and they told us they don’t accept Ambetter insurance, so I was prepared to wait up to 3-5 hours and pay for the treatment out of pocket, but my wife was able to call Family Urgent Care Clinic and confirm they accepted our insurance and had no wait if we were able to come right away. This is not intended to be a negative review of the Sugar Land Urgent Care (other than the fact that the girl that answered the phone initially kind of sniggered when my wife asked if there was a wait, and said ‘there’s always a wait’), I just wanted to compare the experiences we had on the same night with the two different centers.
In a (selfish) way, I hate to speak too positively about Family Urgent Care Clinic in Missouri City in case we need to utilize their services again in the future (the short wait time was amazing), but there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t drive an additional 15 minutes to go here (and multiple reasons why you should), even if you are a bit closer to the Sugar Land center.
Thanks again for your help - my son thinks doctors/nurse practitioners are super heroes now!
